Job Title: Paralegal

The Paralegal provides comprehensive administrative and case support to one attorney. This role ensures timely correspondence, organized case files, accurate calendaring, and responsive client service—particularly for matters involving medical records, billing, and liens. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft legal and administrative correspondence (e.g., letters to clients, providers, opposing counsel; cover letters for record requests).
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests, including assembling document productions, tracking responses, and coordinating with attorneys to ensure deadlines are met.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing timely updates, scheduling, and gathering required information with professionalism and discretion.
• Request, track, and organize medical records and billing statements from providers; reconcile received documents with case needs.
• Obtain and monitor medical liens, coordinate lien reductions or satisfactions in consultation with attorneys.
• Maintain calendars related to medical records and client communications, ensuring follow-ups, reminders, and statutory/administrative deadlines are consistently met.
• Support client intake and sign-up processes, including scheduling, preparing engagement materials, and entering initial case data.

Hiring criteria

Qualifications
• Education: Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. A paralegal certificate is a plus.
• Experience: 1–3 years in a law firm or legal services setting (personal injury, civil litigation, or healthcare-related matters preferred).
• Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with and document management best practices.
• Compliance: Understanding of confidentiality (HIPAA considerations for medical records), records retention, and professional ethics.
Skills & Competencies
• Attention to detail: Accurate drafting, data entry, and file management.
• Organization & prioritization: Able to manage multiple requests, track deadlines, and keep cases moving.
• Communication: Clear, professional written and verbal communication with clients, providers, and counsel.
