Job Title: Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense (Entry-Level)

We are seeking a driven and motivated law student (3L or recent graduate) to join our criminal defense practice as an Associate Attorney upon bar admission. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to gain immediate, hands-on courtroom experience and develop as a trial attorney.

Responsibilities:

Assist with representation of clients in misdemeanor and felony cases
Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and memoranda
Support case preparation, including discovery review and investigation
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel
Appear in court under supervision (if permitted) and transition to independent appearances upon licensure

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) anticipated or recently obtained from an accredited law school
Eligible to sit for the [State] Bar Exam or pending bar results
Strong interest in criminal defense and trial work
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment

Preferred:

Prior internship, clerkship, or clinical experience in criminal law
Mock trial, trial advocacy, or courtroom experience

Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with clients from diverse backgrounds
Capable of explaining complex legal issues in simple, persuasive terms

4. Persuasiveness & Client Conversion Ability

Comfortable speaking with prospective clients and guiding them through representation decisions
Ability to instill confidence and trust during consultations
Professional presence with a natural ability to influence and persuade

5. Courtroom Presence (or Potential)

Comfortable speaking in front of others and thinking on your feet
Experience in mock trial, trial advocacy, or court appearances preferred
Confidence under pressure

6. Strong Legal Skills

Solid research and writing ability
Ability to draft motions and legal documents with attention to detail

7. Professionalism & Judgment

Sound decision-making and high ethical standards
