Job Title: Civil Litigation Attorney

Sodoma Law is a law firm with 6 offices across North Carolina and South Carolina. While our practice area is predominantly family law, over the years, our practice areas have expanded to include trusts and estates, corporate, real estate, business law and more. As our areas of practice continue to grow, so does our footprint across the Carolinas.

We are seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney for our new office in Belmont, North Carolina who can serve clients in civil matters including, but not limited to, labor and employment, real estate, construction, workers’ compensation, and the like. We are excited about this opportunity to serve new communities and offer this new area of practice.

They are team players, committed to honesty and integrity, and are active participants in internal initiatives to include the culture of Sodoma Law and development of our employees.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Providing competent legal advice to clients in hearings, settlement negotiations, and mediations.
• Meeting with clients, drafting documents and pleadings, research, and discovery.
• Managing their own caseload of clients as well as their team.
• Consistent communication with their team and clients.

Hiring criteria

Qualifications:
• Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State bar (Licensed in in South Carolina is a plus).
• 4+ years’ experience working in a civil litigation law firm.
• Ability to understand Local Rules and how they apply to their cases.
• Adequate skill working independently on cases while maintaining a client base.
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills specifically in high stress and emotional situations.
• Ability to maintain professionalism while showing empathy to all clients.
Outstanding candidates for this position should be:
• Creative and able to think outside of the box.
• Organized.
• Energetic.
• Self-motivated.
• Problem solvers with the ability to identify solutions.
• Active members of their community (Gaston, Cleveland and Lincoln County involvement is a plus).
