Recruiting for office(s) in: Charlotte, North Carolina
Type of organization: Law Firm

Job Title: Associate Attorney

Terpening Law is an elite boutique that focuses on criminal and civil litigation in the federal courts. Based in Charlotte, our practice is national in scope, and was founded nearly a decade ago. We are known for white collar criminal defense, complex business litigation, a fearless yet intellectual approach to trials and appeals, creativity, strong brief writing, and taking on unique and challenging cases. We are proud to represent a broad spectrum of the community, from CEOs, other professionals, and businesses to (as part of our pro bono and community service efforts) indigent clients.

This is not a position for lawyers who just want to punch the clock and work 9 to 5. But if you want to be trained well, actively work with clients, and mature into an excellent trial lawyer at a firm where you have legitimate career-advancement opportunity, this may be the position for you.

Benefits include: Close client contact, high levels of responsibility, thought-provoking and meaningful work, solid training and mentoring, early court experience, full healthcare coverage, and coverage of CLE and professional expenses. Salary commensurate with contribution to the firm and experience.

Please apply to Terpening Law if you are:

licensed in North Carolina or planning to sit for the North Carolina Bar in 2024.

Living in the Charlotte area or able to relocate here.

Deeply committed to putting in the time and effort necessary to becoming an excellent federal courtroom attorney, writer, and counselor.

Focused on doing whatever it takes to provide excellent client service and solve complicated problems.

Looking for a career and calling, not a job. Do not apply if you are looking for an easy 9 to 5 “punch the clock” job.

Have a high sense of adventure and high levels of energy and enthusiasm.

Please email a resume and writing sample to brock@terpeninglaw.com.
