Staff attorneys provide a wide array of high-quality legal services, from advice and brief services to full representation, advocacy, legal outreach, and legal education to protect the rights and represent the interests of the low-income community. Applicants will be considered for opportunities in all areas of civil legal practice areas, including community economic development, consumer, education, employment, family, federal income tax, housing, probate, public benefits, and migrant farmworkers.

Hiring criteria

• Member of the SC Bar
• Litigation and clinical experience preferred but not required if committed to:
(a)Public interest/poverty law
(b)Working with low-income, underserved, rural, diverse clients and client communities
(c)Ability to collaborate effectively with other advocates and those agencies that serve the low-income community
• Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedures, Rules of Evidence, Rules of the Family Court, and Rules of Appellate Procedure
• Excellent relationship building, leadership and research skills
• Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills; bilingual skills a plus, but
not required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint Online
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record as use of firm’s vehicles may be required
