Job Title: Town Attorney
The Town of Lexington is accepting applications for the position of Town Attorney.
Under general direction, represents the Town, its council, boards, commissions, and employees as Attorney. Performs legal research, interprets laws and rulings, and provides analysis and fact gathering related to various issues. Provides legal advice and direction to Town Council and the Town Administrator. Conducts or directs prosecution and litigation in court proceedings, and institutes litigation on behalf of the Town. Prepares and reviews all proposed ordinances and resolutions; renders all other legal services on behalf of the Town such as approving bonds, updating ordinances, processing legal documents and approves all official documents of the Town. Reports to the Mayor and Town Council.

Hiring criteria
Requires a Juris Doctor degree with some experience in municipal law preferred. Must be a member in good standing of the State of South Carolina Bar Association and licensed to practice law by the South Carolina Supreme Court. Must possess admission to practice law in Federal Court. Desirable to have experience with criminal law and courtroom litigation skills.
