Job Title: Assistant Public Defender or Contract Attorney
The Sixth Circuit Public Defender’s Office is accepting applications for an Assistant Public Defender for our Lancaster Office. We will consider applicants who wish to have a contract position or applicants seeking full-time employment.
This attorney will provide all aspects of representation of indigent clients charged with criminal offenses in General Sessions Court in Lancaster County. As an attorney with our office, you will immediately work on significant cases and quickly gain substantial court room and jury trial experience.
Candidates for this position must:
o Be a member of the South Carolina Bar in good standing
o Completion of 403 requirements preferred
o Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
o Possess proficient computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
o Be able to conduct legal research, analyze, and interpret legal opinions
Contract pay or salary is negotiable and commiserate with experience.
