Job Title: Reentry Legal Services Attorney
Time Served, a nonprofit legal aid located in Greenville, SC, seeks an entry-level attorney to join
our team. The Reentry Legal Services Attorney will directly represent clients who are formerly
incarcerated or have a criminal record in removing legal barriers to successful reentry.
Specifically, this Attorney will serve participants in transitional programs with which Time
Served partners; will support record cleaning clinics across the state; and will bill time as needed
as a subgrantee, amongst other duties and responsibilities outlined below.
The Reentry Legal Services Attorney will provide legal services to include, but not limited to,
record cleaning, family law representation, driver’s license reinstatement related services, and
supervision violation related representation, all within the scope of Time Served’s mission and as
directly supervised by the Deputy Director.
The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, and eager to provide quality civil legal aid
services to people impacted by the criminal legal system.
This position may require participation in outreach activities statewide
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the
essential functions.
1. Directly represents clients with criminal backgrounds in their reentry related matters,
including record cleaning, family law, driver’s license and other ID related issues,
supervision related matters (probation, parole, community supervision), and other legal
issues that arise out of having a criminal record. Representation may include in-court
representation and administrative hearings.
2. Maintains strong client records and follows Time Served protocols regarding intake,
conflict checks, opening and closing cases, and other case-related procedures.
3. Works directly with Time Served’s reentry and social services partner agencies to screen
their participants for legal services, bill as a subgrantee when appropriate, and maintain a
positive and communicative partnership.
4. Assists with coordinating and running community legal clinics.
5. Travels as needed within the state for clinics and court hearings, should they occur in
another county; the position is predominantly in Greenville.
6. Goes into prisons as needed to support our partner programs with “inside-outside”
programming, to conduct client screenings and address legal needs prior to release.

Hiring criteria
Minimum Qualifications:
• J.D. from an accredited law school;
• Licensed member in good standing of the South Carolina Bar, or pending admission to
the South Carolina Bar;
• Completion of SC Rule 403 Trial Experiences or ability to complete within three (3)
months of hire;
