Job Title: 2026 Summer Clerk

At Johnston, Allison & Hord, P.A., we strive to create a summer clerkship program that closely approximates the practice of law. Our summer clerks meet with clients, attend court hearings, perform research, and assist in drafting briefs and other legal documents. In short, their work is regularly incorporated into the final product—just like our lawyers and associates.

Summer Clerks work on challenging projects comparable to those assigned to full-time, first- and second-year associates. Projects include preparing transactional closing documents, drafting contracts, preparing litigation pleadings, and assisting lawyers in their preparation for closings, depositions and hearings. Summer Clerks also participate in client meetings, closings, depositions and court proceedings whenever possible and are not relegated to solely performing legal research or reviewing documents.

Each Summer Clerk is assigned a mentor at our law office. The mentor will help coordinate work, social activities and administrative matters, and are also available to answer all questions. Planned social activities help our Summer Clerks get to know our people and our great city of Charlotte. Our goal for our Summer Clerks is to get to know our attorneys and for our attorneys to get to know our Summer Clerks on a personal level.

The Clerkship is a 12 week program.
