Job Title: Workers’ Compensation Attorney

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Workers’ Compensation Attorney with 3-7 years of experience to handle a diverse caseload of workers’ compensation matters. The successful candidate will represent injured workers in all aspects of their claims, from initial filing through hearings and appeals before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management & Litigation
• Represent injured workers in workers’ compensation claims and appeals
• Conduct thorough case evaluations and develop litigation strategies
• Prepare and file necessary pleadings, motions, and appeals with the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission
• Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and opposing counsel
• Represent clients at all stages of workers compensation litigation claims

Client Relations & Communication
• Conduct initial client consultations and case assessments
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status and developments
• Provide clear explanations of legal processes, rights, and options
• Collaborate with medical providers, vocational experts, and other professionals

Legal Research & Documentation
• Research South Carolina workers’ compensation law, regulations, and case precedents
• Draft legal memoranda, briefs, and correspondence
• Prepare witnesses and exhibits for hearings
• Maintain accurate and detailed case files and documentation

Business Development
• Build and maintain relationships with referring attorneys, medical professionals, and community contacts
• Participate in networking events and professional organizations
• Contribute to firm marketing initiatives and thought leadership

Hiring criteria

Required Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in South Carolina
• 3-7 years of experience in workers’ compensation law or personal injury practice
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven litigation experience and courtroom presence
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, and case management software

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience practicing before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission, or related litigation experience
• Experience with medical records review and interpretation
• Strong knowledge of South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act and Commission procedures
